Le Pouce mountain is the third highest mountain in Mauritius with a peak of 812m and is located in the north west of the island between Peter Both and Signal mountain. Le Pouce is also known as the ” Thumb Peak “, due to it’s shape at the top resembling a thumb. You’ll have splendid views of the northern regions of the island together with beautiful views of other small islands of Mauritius like Flat island, Round island and Snake island. Apart from that, you’ll also get to have the most beautiful views of the capital, Port Louis and the west, Moka and also the high grounds of Plaine Wilhems.

Along the trip, you’ll be accompanied by experience and qualified guides who have a passion for nature and sports. This is a unique and enriching experience as you’ll learn about the fauna and flora.

Meeting point
  • The starting point is the Commercial center of Helvettia. You will meet the guide and afterwards prepare for the hike
  • Start with a 1 hour climb up to the summit of Le Pouce mountain

Views of the north of the island
  • At the peak, you'll have mesmerizing views of the northern parts of the island as well as small islands of Mauritius, such as Round island, Flat island and snake island
  • You'll also have amazing views of the capital, Port Louis and also the west region of the island as well

Fauna and flora
  • You'll learn about the fauna and flora of Mauritius
  • From the summit, you'll then head back to the starting point while enjoying the scenery at the same time

It took me around 1 hour and a half to get on top which had an amazing view.

It seems very popular here with a lot of people hiking early in the morning.

Will definitely do it again.

A hard endurance walk for 2-3 hours, but well worth the superb views at the top. I’ve done this twice now, and hope to walk it again soon.
